There are a wide range of hotels in the FCT, from the exquisite and luxurious hotels to the cheap and affordable ones.

The Airport known as Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport  is located about 40 kilometres from the city centre on the way to Gwagwalada. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the Central Business District to the airport. The Airport has two wings; a domestic terminal and an international terminal.

University of Abuja is a government owned university established in 1988. 

The University operates from two campuses, its Main Campus, along Abuja Airport Road, and the Mini - Campus in Gwagwalada. 

Currently, the Administrative Building and the Faculty of Arts are on the Main Campus. More faculties are expected to relocate to the Main Campus from Gwagwalada in due course. Abuja Parks & Gardens

Abuja is a beautiful city with lots of parks and recreational gardens. Some of the major ones are Millennium park in Maitama; Magicland (Wonderland) park beside the City-gate; Maitama Amusement Park in Maitama; Children's National Park & Zoo in Asokoro; City park in Wuse II; Merry-Makers park in Wuse; Jabi park in Jabi; Monoliza park in Garki.

Transportation

Abuja Nigeria can be accessed by road and air. The city is surrounded by land hence cannot be accessed by sea. The major roads into Abuja are from Lokoja, Kaduna and Jos/Keffi. The good road network within the city makes movement around town easy either on your private car or commercial cars.

Car rental services are available at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport and the big hotels likeTranscorp Hilton, Sheraton etc. There are also commercial taxis which offer ‘drops’ (drop off passengers from one location.to another) at prices between N200 and N1000 per ‘drop’. The commercial taxis are normally painted green and have identification numbers.

There are mass transit buses that go from the city center to the suburban districts like Kubwa, Nyanya, Gwagwalada etc. There are presently no train services but a light rail system is in the pipe-line.

In the suburban districts there are also commercial motor-cycles and tricycles that move over short distances but these are not permitted in the city center.

City-Gate: This is the entry point into the city center from the airport road (Musa Yar adua way). The city-gate is presently being reconstructed.

AYA Roundabout: This is the entry point into the city center from Keffi/Nyanya road.


Federal Secretariat

There are many landmarks in the city. These can be helpful in locating places in the city. Some of the major ones include;

NNPC Towers: This is a monumental structure consisting of four towers located on Herbert Macaulay way in the Central business district. It is the corporate headquarters of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

Federal Secretariat: This is where most of the federal ministries have their offices. It is located in the central business district along Ahmadu Bello Way.

Wuse Market: This is the biggest market in Abuja. It is along Kashim Ibrahim road in Wuse district.

Transcorp Hilton

This is a monumental hotel structure along Aguiyi Ironsi Street in Maitama. Its is five-star hotel.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church: This is a monumental church structure along Aguiyi Ironsi Street in Maitama.


Central Mosque: This is a monumental structure in the Central business district. It is the biggest mosque in the city.


Berger Junction (Roundabout): This is a major roundabout on Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway where Herbert Macaulay road and Obafemi Awolowo Way join the road.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church Maitama

National Assembly Complex: This is a gigantic office complex that host the Senate and the Federal House of Representatives. It is Located in the three-Arms-Zone. Its has two chambers one used for the sitting of the Senate and the other used for the House of Representatives, there are also offices for the federal Legislators, their support staff and Support services like banks.


National Stadium

This is a national sports complex. The main bowl has a capacity of 60,000 spectators. It also has a presidential suite and viewing area, a 3000 capacity indoor sports hall and lots of other sports facilities.

SEC TOWERS

This is the office complex that houses the Security and Exchange Commission. It is located in the central business district beside UAC Complex adjacent to Arewa Suites

Banex Junction: This is the junction where Ahmadu Bello Way joins Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Wuse II. It is near the Banex and Sherrif plazas.

SILVERBIRD COMPLEX

Located in the central business district near Musa Yar'adua Center, its houses Silverbirds Cinema, and other shops including Shoprite.

This is a gigantic tent used for different ceremonies. It is location on Ahmadu Bello Way in the central business district near the federal secretariat.

NICON Junction: This is the junction where Shehu Shagari Way joins Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Maitama. Transcorp Hilton Hotel (formerly NICON Noga Hilton Hotel) can easily be accessed from the junction through Shehu Shagari way.

Eagle Square: This is a Parade ground that host most national events like Independence anniversaries, government hand overs, political rallies, conventions etc. It is located in the Central business district adjacent the Federal secretariat. It was built in 1999.


Post Office: This is the general post office, it is located Garki district.

EOWAS Secretariat:

This is a monumental structure along Yakubu Gowon Cresent in Asokoro district of Abuja.
