National Para-Soccer Tourney Begins in Abuja
Sixteen states of the federation will attend the 3rd National Para-Soccer Tournament which kicks off today (Monday October 19) at Package B of National Stadium, Abuja.
The tournament that will end on October 24 is organised by the Para-Soccer Federation of Nigeria and National Sports Commission to commemorate the World Polio Day.
The President of the federation who also doubles as the National Chairman of Association of Polio Survivors of Nigeria, Misbahu Didi, said 20 children will be vaccinated on the final day of the tournament while a walk to end polio will be held in collaboration with Rotary Club International.
“There is a lot to celebrate which has informed the collaboration of all our partners because it is over a year that there is no polio case in Nigeria. We have been removed from polio endemic countries,’’ Didi said.
Athletes from the participating states will be accommodated and fed during the tournament while security and medical arrangements will also be put in place.
Cash prizes, plaques and medals will be presented to the outstanding teams while the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and the Best Behaved team will go home with certificates.
