‘WE WILL MAKE ABUJA BETTER' - Engr J. Chukwu

The new Permanent Secretary assigned to the FCT Administration, Engr. John Obinna Chukwu has resumed duty with a promise to join hands with the leadership of the FCT Administration to make Abuja better for the generations yet unborn.


Engr. Chukwu who took over from the Acting FCT Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed on Friday, also called for cooperation from the staff of the FCT Administration to assist the two FCT Ministers in actualizing the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The new Permanent Secretary while commending the Acting Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed for the professional way he has handled the office in acting capacity, urged the staff to work with him in the same spirit to take Abuja to greater heights.

Engr. Chukwu who enjoined the staff of the FCT Administration to continue to work hard, noted that “donkeys live longer inspite of hard work” as FCT Administration is different from all other Federal Government MDAs.

He emphasized that as bureaucrats, “we have a duty to collectively work to improve the metropolitan management, execute programmes and policies formulated by the FCT Minister as well as the FCT Minister of State by giving face to the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government”.

The new Permanent Secretary who promised not to interfere in the running of the various departments in the overall interest of the system, assured that he will operate an open door policy.

Speaking earlier, the Acting FCT Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed called on the staff of the FCT Administration to extend the cooperation given whilst acting to the new Permanent Secretary to ensure that FCTA achieve it’s set goals.

Alhaji Ahmed took time to explain the workings of the FCT Administration from the evolution of the Federal Capital Territory for easy and quick comprehension to enable the new Permanent Secretary hit the ground running.

Some key Directors in the FCTA also witnessed the handing over ceremony.
